Gary, I had a heart attack in 2005, April 2nd. I was sitting and drinking coffee looking out my back door. I felt a jolt, and thought what was that. So I got up and took 2 aspirin and then got my cell phone and went and sat down on the couch. I was just watching TV and the second jolt hit me, only it was much harder. I could not pick up my left arm and it was hurting terribly, my chest hurt also, and I got confused for a moment. I could not remember 911 the emergency number for a ambulance. The only number I could remember was my husband work number. So I called him and told him I was having a heart attack. He said what makes you think that? I just said, I am having a heart attack and hung up the phone. He was there in 3 minutes and picked me up and took me to our hospital here in Yukon. They immediately put me on IV, and started giving me nitroglycerin under my tongue. I was admitted to the hospital over night and a specialist came in the next morning. He transferred me to Baptist Hospital in Okla. City. That afternoon, they took me into surgery and put a stint in my heart. I had an 85% blockage in a vein on my heart. It was not clogged it collapsed. I do not have high blood pressure and never have, I do not have high Cholesterol either, and never have. It was stress. While I was waiting for my husband to come home, I prayed and asked the Lord for more time. I said if you want to take me now, ok. But I would really like to see my grand kids grow up and since we just lost my father in law, it would be very hard on my husband and family. Please give my more time. He did. When they were taking me into surgery I had no fear. The Lord gave me total peace. Now the pain after they put the stint in is awful, because they go up from a vein at the upper part of your leg to get to the heart. So there is a never right there, and the pressure they have to apply after to get the vein to reseal, and stop bleeding hurts like hell. They finally tied me down to the bed and put me to sleep, I could not bare the pain. I woke up the next morning and all my family was there around me. They released me to go home that afternoon. I was bruised from my upper leg down to my knee. But the Lord did give me more time, so I could witness of His love for us and He does answer prayer.
Since then, I have a whole new perspective on life, and what is important. His Word in the scriptures, and watching for Him anytime.
Sincerely, Marsha Barnes
